Bench Burn-In: How Long We Test Before Signing Off
Four hours at rated power is our minimum; here is what we log each hour.
Clients shipping units to our Yeonsu bench often ask why we cannot turn reports around same-day. Thermal mass in heat sinks lies. A rig that looks fine at minute thirty may throttle at hour three once adjacent components warm each other.
Hour-by-hour log
- Hour 0 — Intake photo, ambient temp, pool connection verified
- Hour 1 — Hash sample every fifteen minutes, fan RPM noted
- Hour 2 — Infrared scan of board edges and PSU exhaust
- Hour 3 — Introduce controlled dust at low concentration if client requested dust baseline
- Hour 4 — Final hash average compared to manufacturer tolerance band
When we extend testing
Suspected failing fan bearing, smell of hot adhesive, or hash variance above 3% triggers an extra two-hour block at no added bench fee. We call before extending.
